If I know one thing, I know that cooking the perfect steak at home isn't always easy. I also know that people don't like to scroll through paragraphs to get to the recipe they came for, so I'll jump right into it.
What you'll need:
cast iron griddle (you can get one from Walmart for $20!)
2-4 boneless ribeye steaks (highly recommended: Premium Angus USDA Choice)
steak seasoning (highly recommended: Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning)
What you'll need to do:
1. Place the skillet on the grill and turn it on high.
(High heat ensures a good sear and a crispy crust on your steaks!)
2. While your skillet is heating up, pat your steaks dry with a clean, unused paper towel and lightly sprinkle the seasoning on each side.
(Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty and rub the seasoning into the meat.)
3. Hover your hand over the griddle (don't touch it, please). If you can feel the heat coming from the skillet, it's time to add your steaks!
(The skillet I have is 10.5'' and can cook two steaks at once.)
4. Carefully place your steaks on the skillet. You should hear the steak sizzle immediately. Sear for 7 minutes on each side. To ensure you get the "grilled" look, take a fork or spatula and gently press into the steak while it's cooking.
(7 minutes should give a medium cooked steak. If you like your steak cooked well for some reason, go ahead and cook it longer. Remember: the longer you cook the steak, the easier it is to dry the meat out.)
My favorite side dishes:
garlic mashed potatoes
buttered brussels sprouts
mashed sweet potatoes
